SUMMARY:Rutgers Climate Week: Subnational Approaches to Biodiversity\, Climate Action\, and Environmental Justice
DESCRIPTION:  \nWhile climate and conservation goals are often framed at national or global scales\, their success depends on how they are pursued at subnational levels. Drawing on diverse expertise across U.S.-based and China-based organizations\, this panel discusses subnational approaches to biodiversity conservation\, climate action\, and environmental justice. \nSpeakers include representatives from the American Museum of Natural History Center for Biodiversity Conservation in New York City\, the U.S. National Park Service in California\, The Nature Conservancy in Beijing\, and Green Camel Bell in Gansu. Each speaker will discuss their work on different aspects of biodiversity\, climate action\, and/or environmental justice. \nPanelists will speak for about 8-10 minutes sharing their mission\, recent work\, and reflections on some key lessons from their work and practices. \nThen panelists will have an opportunity to field questions from the audience and discuss their work further with one another. \nPanelists: \n\nPeng Kui\, Science Lead and Interim Project Director at The Nature Conservancy Beijing Office (Beijing)\nJeff Martin\, Research Social Scientist with the USDA Forest Service (California)\nAna Porzecanski\, Director of the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation at the American Museum of Natural History (New York City)\nZhao Zhong\, Founder and Director of Green Camel Bell (Gansu Province)\n\nModerator: \nJesse Rodenbiker\, Assistant Professor of Geography\, Rutgers University and RCEI Affiliate \n  \nEvent Information:  \nDate/Time: September 25th at 12:00pm \nFormat: Webinar \nRegistration: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83487277260 \nMore Information: https://www.climateweeknyc.org/event-search/past-events/subnational-approaches-to-biodiversity-climate-action-and-environmental-justice-from-us-and-china-perspectives \nOpen to: Rutgers faculty\, staff\, students\, members of the public \nEvent Sponsor(s): National Committee on US-China Relations\, RCEI\n \nCost: Free
