RCEI Clean Energy Graduate Certificate
The Clean Energy Graduate Certificate equips Master’s-level graduate students with cross-disciplinary training in engineering, policy, and economics through a clean energy scope. Developed in partnership with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU), this 9-credit credential equips future leaders with the essential skills required to pursue public and private careers across the clean energy industry.

Eligibility
To be admitted into this graduate certificate program, a student must:

- Be enrolled in or accepted to a Rutgers Master’s program (matriculating student);
- Have a minimum graduate student GPA of 3.0 (B average);
- Undergraduate GPA will be considered for first-year Master's students.


Program Requirements
To earn this graduate certificate, students are required to complete one course in Energy-Based Engineering, Energy Public Policy, and Applied Energy Economics. Students must earn a minimum B grade in each completed course for this certificate. The approved list of courses per subject area are listed in the tables below. Please note, course availability may vary from year to year.
Independent Course Review
- Courses already completed by students prior to applying for the graduate certificate may count toward certificate requirements upon review of RCEI’s Program Coordinator.
- Students may email the Program Coordinator with the course number and syllabus to confirm if courses outside of the approved list qualify for the certificate.
