The 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) takes place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 11 to 22 November 2024.  As a lead-up to the negotiations, RCEI Affiliate Danielle Falzon, participated along with experts from around the world in a webinar focused on “Key Issues to Watch at COP 29” that was held on October 24, 2024.  This is the third year in a row that this event was held by its co-sponsors,  University Climate Change Coalition and the Research and Independent Nongovernment Organization Constituency, as well as the third year in a row that Professor Falzon participated as a speaker. This year she focused on the Global Goal on Adaptation. Other key issues for COP 29 covered during this webinar included the New Collective Quantified Goal; Nationally Determined Contributions and Biennial Transparency; Progress toward the Loss and Damage Fund; and International Carbon Markets under Article 6.
